Ghan Ghan Privacy Policy
Last updated: 28 October 2026 · Provided by 5S Infotech, Gwalior, India
Ghan Ghan is a private video intercom that lets a family's adults call, chat with and leave to-dos for their own children's devices. This policy explains what data the service and the Ghan Ghan Windows app use, and why.
What we store
- Adult accounts: first and last name, mobile number (used to sign in with a one-time code), an optional email address, the name the child sees (e.g. MUMMA) and an optional profile photo. Accounts made with an email address also have a securely hashed password; we never store passwords in readable form.
- Sign-in codes: when you sign in or sign up, we send a 6-digit code to your mobile number on WhatsApp (or by email). Codes are stored only in scrambled (hashed) form and expire after 10 minutes.
- Plan and payments: your family's plan (free, trial or Premium), its dates, and the payment reference from Google Play or Razorpay. Card, UPI and bank details are handled entirely by Google Play or Razorpay; we never see or store them.
- Daily call minutes on the free plan, so we can apply the 15-minutes-a-day limit.
- Child devices: the device name a parent chooses (e.g. the child's first name), device type, online status and last-seen time. Children do not have accounts and never enter personal details.
- Messages, voice notes and to-dos that family members send each other. Each chat is private between one adult and the child; other adults in the family cannot read it.
- Call history: who called which device, when, and how long it lasted. Calls are never recorded.
- Notification tokens, if you allow phone notifications, so we can tell you when your child replies.
Camera and microphone
The camera and microphone are used only during a video call, and only after the child presses ANSWER, or after the ringing countdown if a parent has turned on auto-answer on that device. The microphone is also used while someone records a voice note. Video and audio travel directly between the family's devices, encrypted (WebRTC DTLS-SRTP). If a direct link isn't possible, the encrypted stream passes through our relay server, which cannot see or hear it and does not store it.
Why we use this data
Only to run the service: connecting calls, delivering messages and to-dos, showing whether a child's device is online, securing accounts, and managing trial and paid plans. We do not show ads, we do not sell or share personal data with advertisers, and we do not use it for profiling.
Where it is kept and who can see it
Data is stored on our own server in the European Union (Germany), protected by encrypted connections (HTTPS). Only members of your family can see your family's content. 5S Infotech administrators can see account and device details (not message content) to provide support, such as resetting a forgotten password. We do not sell personal data, and we share it only with the service providers that help us run Ghan Ghan, each for that purpose alone:
- Meta (WhatsApp Business Platform): your mobile number and sign-in code, to deliver the code on WhatsApp.
- Resend: your email address, if you choose to receive a code or receipt by email.
- Google (Firebase Cloud Messaging): a notification token, to ring your phone for incoming calls and messages.
- Google Play and Razorpay: payment processing for Premium.
We may also disclose data when required by law.
Cookies
We use only essential cookies to keep you signed in, to remember a paired child device, and to protect against cross-site request forgery. There are no tracking or advertising cookies.
How long we keep it, and deleting it
Data is kept while your family uses Ghan Ghan. The family owner can remove family members and child devices at any time in Settings. You can delete your account at any time in the app: Settings → Delete my account. Your login, name, mobile number, email and photo are deleted immediately; if you own the family, the whole family is deleted too, with its child devices, messages, voice notes, to-dos and history. You can also ask us at 5sinfotech.in/ghan-ghan/delete-account and we will do it within 30 days. A Premium subscription bought on Google Play must be cancelled in the Play Store separately.
Children
Ghan Ghan is set up and controlled by a parent or guardian. The child's device only receives calls and messages from its own family. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children.
